Dental Development During the Early and Late Mixed Dentition: Diagnosis, Treatment and Common Problems from an Orthodontic Perspective
Course Description:
A broad overview of adolescents and teens from an orthodontic perspective including what ages to take particular films, what to look for when examining a pano as well as common conditions that tend to present at certain ages.
Course Objectives:
- Improve age-specific radiographic interpretation for adolescents and teens
- Learn what conditions to monitor and which will require earlier intervention
- The whys and hows of appliance therapy
- When orthodontics is best completed in multiple stages versus a single stage
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Hardyk earned his post-doctoral certificate in the specialization of orthodontics and orofacial orthopedics at the Eastman Institute of Oral Health in Rochester, NY.
Prior to that, Dr. Hardyk attended the internationally renowned UCSF School of Dentistry in San Francisco for his doctoral degree in dentistry. At both schools, Dr. Hardyk worked extensively with the Cleft and Craniofacial Treatment Teams. He has worked on a number of research projects, including an extensive study examining the effects of the orthodontic expander appliance using 3-dimensional cone beam CT scans.
Prior to beginning his work in dentistry and orthodontics, Dr. Hardyk worked as a professional classical musician, performing with a variety of orchestras, opera companies, and chamber music groups in North America and Europe.
