This presentation will equip dentists with an understanding of oral appliance therapy (OAT) for obstructive sleep apnea, including its efficacy, patient compliance advantages, and clinical indications.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will specifically learn how the Panthera D‑SAD and related appliances leverage medical‑grade polyamide‑12, titratable bruxism‑resistant rods, and customizable bands and plateaus to deliver precise, patient‑specific mandibular advancement. The session will outline the complete digital workflow—from intraoral scanning to seamless digital prescription transfer, and 3D printing from Panthera. Clinicians will gain practical guidance on appliance titration, case selection, and monitoring treatment outcomes

Rebecca A. Neill, DDS, is the Dental Service Chief for the VA Northern California Health Care System’s dental clinics, where she oversees clinical services across multiple sites and continues to practice comprehensive dentistry with a focus on complex care. She earned her DDS from Creighton University with honors and completed a General Practice Residency at Naval Hospital San Diego.  Dr. Neill also serves in the U.S. Naval Reserves, currently as the Senior Dental Officer for Naval Medical Force Development Command San Antonio. Over her military career, she has held multiple senior leadership roles, guided dental readiness for Marine Corps units across the country, and developed infection control programs now used Navy-wide. Her service has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Navy and Marine Corps Meritorious Service Medal. With more than two decades of clinical experience spanning private practice, VA service, and military leadership, Dr. Neill brings a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes—particularly in areas like obstructive sleep apnea, where collaborative, practical solutions such as oral appliance therapy make a meaningful impact. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys running, cooking, and spending time outdoors with her husband of 24 years and their three children.

Overview of Treating Medically Compromised Patients–The Essentials

Dental Treatment of medically compromised patients can prove to be challenging.

Understanding what to evaluate, how to treat and when to consult can allow you to provide safe dental care to the patients you treat.

Learning Objectives:

• Define AHA recommendations on premedication
• Compare different types of blood thinners and how to manage patients on each
• Recognize the complications of head and neck radiation and how to evaluate the patient prior to treatment to optimize long term sequelae
• Define MRONJ and review risks associated with bisphosphonate therapy
• Apprise renal impairment and how this effects common dental medications

Dr. Quilici completed her dental school education at Creighton University. She went onto get her AEGD certificate at Creighton University after which she completed a one-year internship in OMFS at Montefiore Medical Center, New York. She has published multiple articles on various topics including medication-induced xerostomia and dental treatment of patients with prune belly syndrome. She is presently the Site Director for the Residency program at the VA McClellan Dental Clinic.
