Course Description:

Excellent endodontics does not have to be slow, complicated or intimidating. This course teaches general dentists how to apply the same fundamental principles that produce excellent endodontic outcomes while using a streamlined, systematic clinical approach designed for everyday general practice.

Developed and refined in a high-volume general dental practice where the clinical team now completes more than 250 root canal treatments each month, Easier, Better, Faster teaches participants how to evaluate an endodontic case, recognize its potential difficulties before treatment begins, select the cases appropriate for their skill level, and then approach treatment with a clear plan and confidence.

The goal is not simply to perform endodontics faster. Efficiency comes from knowing what to do next. Participants will learn a reproducible sequence for diagnosis, anesthesia and isolation, access, canal location, negotiation to the apical terminus, working length determination, glide path development, cleaning and shaping, irrigation, and obturation.

The primary clinical objective is for participants to develop the skills and workflow necessary to complete an appropriately selected molar root canal treatment to a high clinical standard in a single visit within a one-hour appointment.

This is not simply a lecture course. Through focused instruction and hands-on participation, attendees will practice the techniques themselves and learn how the individual steps fit together into an efficient, predictable clinical system they can take back to their practices and use with confidence. The program is also planned to include a live-patient molar root canal demonstration showing the complete appointment workflow.

Course Objectives:

• Develop greater confidence in diagnosing pulpal and periapical disease and determining the need for root canal treatment.
• Evaluate case difficulty and select appropriate endodontic cases to treat while recognizing cases that should be referred.
• Apply effective anesthesia and isolation techniques for predictable endodontic treatment.
• Create efficient access preparations, identify chamber anatomy, and locate canal orifices with confidence.
• Negotiate canals to the apical terminus, determine working length, and establish a reproducible glide path.
• Clean and shape the root canal system using a streamlined, efficient, and economical instrumentation protocol.
• Use irrigation and obturation protocols designed to support predictable clinical outcomes.
• Integrate the complete workflow to efficiently complete an appropriately selected molar root canal treatment in a single one-hour appointment.

About the Speaker:

Douglas Ness, DDS, MBA, DABGD, DABOI/ID has practiced general dentistry for more than 35 years, with a career spanning private and group practice in Alaska and California, as well as clinical practice and dental education in mainland China and other international locations. He received his DDS from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, completed a General Practice Residency at Emory University/Atlanta VA Medical Center, and later earned an MBA from California Lutheran University. He is a Diplomate of both the American Board of General Dentistry and the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Ness is the owner of Crown Dental Group in National City, California, a high-volume multispecialty general dental practice serving patients throughout San Diego County. Endodontics is an integral part of the practice, where Dr. Ness and his clinical team now complete more than 250 root canal treatments each month. Over decades of clinical practice, he has developed and refined a systematic approach to endodontic treatment based on sound endodontic principles, careful case selection, efficient clinical technique, and a reproducible treatment sequence.

Dr. Ness has taught continuing education courses in endodontics, restorative dentistry, and orthodontics in mainland China and other international locations. He has completed more than 3,500 hours of continuing dental education and is a Past President of the San Diego Academy of General Dentistry.
