Pinhole Surgical Technique for Gingival Recession
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
CE: 6 (participation)
AGD Subject Code: 490 (perio)
This course introduces the Pinhole Surgical Technique® (PST), a minimally invasive alternative to traditional grafting for treating gingival recession. PST avoids scalpels and sutures, instead using specialized instruments to reposition gingival tissue through small entry points. The session will examine the etiology and clinical impact of recession and present PST as an evidence-based solution.
Participants will review evidence-based research, including a 14.5-year retrospective case series showing 86.6% mean root coverage, a randomized split-mouth clinical trial study, and a 35-month case study combining PST with Surgical Crown Shortening (SCS) for Class III defects. These studies demonstrate PST’s long-term predictability, clinical effectiveness, and patient satisfaction.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the biological principles and procedural steps of PST for managing gingival recession.
- Evaluate outcomes from long-term and comparative studies to assess the predictability of PST versus traditional techniques.
- Identify appropriate clinical indications for PST, including advanced cases requiring referral or combination therapies.

Managing Implant Mechanical Problems
8:00 am – 12:00 pm
CE: 4 (lecture)
AGD Code: 690 (Implants)
For years we have all experienced the invaluable addition implant dentistry adds to a restorative outcome. Adding implant support can often provide a more conservative treatment approach, as in avoidance of additional preparations for a fixed partial denture or adding support and or retention to augment stability in a case. It’s really hard to imagine practicing dentistry without modern implant technology. However, in some cases, various mechanical failures can present, complicating the prognosis of the case or forcing revisions which are expensive to both the patient and practice. This course will examine many of the issues surrounding these failures.
Objectives
- Better identify some of the issues which pre-dispose a case for mechanical problems.
- Recognize options in case construction which greatly influence force distribution, mechanical integrity, and long-term robustness.
- Understand how screws function and how to deal with screw failure when it presents.
- Decide what to do when an implant mechanical complication presents, but even more importantly, what not to do to prevent additional complications

Management of Traumatic Dental Injuries
1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
CE: 4 (lecture)
AGD Subject Code: 154 (Sports Dentistry–Electives)
This course will outline the common causes of orofacial trauma in both athletic settings as well as common causes of falls and injuries to the head and neck region in daily activities of several different age groups, and the management of traumatic dental injuries in the general dental practice.
Objectives
- To identify common injuries both sports related and those that occur in our activities of daily living and the age groups and cohorts most commonly at risk for orofacial injuries.
- Classification of the types of injuries, hard and soft tissue involvement. Knowing why time is crucial in the long-term prognosis for treatment of these injuries.
- Having a prearranged examination protocol with the knowledge of which radiographic and imaging to use
- Management of the common traumatic dental and alveolar/TMJ injuries. Knowing when to splint injured and luxated teeth with what materials and for what length of time.
- Know the current management of pulpal exposures in teeth with both developed and undeveloped apices
- Prevention methods of traumatic dental injuries

Excellence in Restorative Dentistry: Adhesive Treatment Strategies for Lifetime Patient Care
8:00 am – 5:00 pm
CE: 8 (lecture)
AGD Subject Code: 250 (Restorative)
Keynote Speaker
This one-day course highlights the full potential of modern restorative dentistry— from prevention to interception to reconstruction—emphasizing how adhesive techniques have expanded treatment possibilities. The course will be presented through a series of carefully curated and well-documented clinical cases, each supported by long-term follow-ups that demonstrate real-world success and sustainability.
Key topics include remineralization, bleaching (internal & external, resin infiltration, tooth fragment reattachment, aesthetic composite bonding, and bonded resin fixed partial prosthesis for missing anterior teeth.
Course Objectives:
• Apply modern adhesive techniques for conservative, aesthetic outcomes.
• Understand the value of resin infiltration to reverse white spots and prevent the advancement of inter-proximal caries.
• Perform predictable fragment reattachment.
• Perform simple layering for beautiful optical effects that rival natural teeth.
• Communicate value-based care beyond insurance limitations.
The day concludes with an open discussion to help translate knowledge into practice.
