Course Description:
Dentists who offer sedation know what it is like to plan and prepare for fearful and anxious patients. A great deal of responsibility is placed on our shoulders for staying up to date with the knowledge of emergencies, medications, records, and laws. It is essential for us to consistently review the 13 emergencies and prepare our teams for navigating through these situations. We will review the basic concepts and introduce some tips and tricks for the 13 emergencies, evaluate the accuracy of your records as required by law, and improve team coordination for office ease and flow. We will review the pharmacology and administration of moderate sedation medications for both oral and IV sedation practices that make your sedation and patient experiences more successful.
Learning Objectives:
- Review of 13 emergencies; identifying signs and symptoms.
- Clarify pharmacology for sedation and emergency medications.
- Review techniques for building a successful office emergency protocol.
- Review legal updates for sedation providers in 2024.
- Clarify record keeping for sedation providers.
- Understand the expectations for monitoring moderate sedation.
About the Speaker:

Gina is passionate about education and is currently devoted to completing her masters in the Academy of General Dentistry. In 2011 she was awarded her fellowship in DOCs sedation program and in 2015 her fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
